Hurricane Milton was upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center on Oct. 7, just two days before it was expected to make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The experts at the center have reported that the winds of Hurricane Milton have increased to 150 miles per hour. In just a few hours, Milton rapidly intensified to become a Category 4 hurricane. Category 4 hurricanes bring winds of up to 156 miles per hour and can cause catastrophic damage. When a Category 4 hurricane makes landfall, well-built framed homes can sustain severe damage, with the potential loss of most of the roof structure and/or some exterior walls. Additionally, most trees will be snapped or uprooted, and power poles may be knocked down.
