Israeli airstrikes on two towns in Lebanon killed at least nine people, including in a predominantly Sunni town, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
In Barja, located about 20 miles south of Beirut, four people were killed and 14 injured in an airstrike. Barja is primarily Sunni, making this strike notable, as Israel has mostly targeted Shia-majority areas with stronger Hezbollah support.
In Maaysra, a town in northern Lebanon, five people were killed and 14 wounded in a second strike in recent weeks.
Deir Billa, another northern Lebanese town, was hit for the first time, though no casualty figures have been released for that attack.
Since September 16, when Israel intensified its campaign against Hezbollah, over 1,500 people have been killed and around 8,000 injured in Lebanon, according to Lebanese health ministry reports.
