Eleven actors and actresses are competing for the General elections.

A large number of popular artists are contesting in this year’s general election from major political parties.

Accordingly, veteran film director and actor Ranjan Ramanayake is contesting for the Gampaha District under the United National Freedom Front with the microphone symbol. Veteran actor Kamal Addaraarachchi is contesting for the Trincomalee District from the second-generation party of Uvindu Wijewera.

Journalist and actor Wimal Ketapearachchi is contesting for the Colombo District, while actor and television drama director Jagath Manuwarna is contesting for the Kandy District, both representing the National People’s Power. Actor Vamila Peries is also contesting from the National People’s Power.

Award-winning literary figure Keerthi Welisarage has been included in the national list of the National People’s Power for the general election.

Actress Anusha Damayanthi, actor Jayanta Ketagoda, and film and television drama director Sudath Rohana have been included in the national list of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.

Former Member of Parliament and actor Sujeewa Senasinghe has been included in the national list of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Popular actor Jehan Appuhamy is contesting for the Puttalam District in this year’s general election from the Frontline Socialist Party.
