Officials in Martin County, Florida, report several injuries and significant damage to numerous homes as Hurricane Milton strikes the area with powerful winds, heavy rain, and destructive tornadoes.

According to Martin County Fire Rescue, some homes have sustained “severe” damage. While both serious and minor injuries have been reported, no fatalities have occurred so far.

Residents are urged to stay off the roads, and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a countywide curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. due to the extensive damage caused by multiple tornadoes and worsening weather conditions expected throughout the night.

Martin County is located in the southeastern part of Florida, close to St. Lucie County, where earlier tornadoes resulted in “multiple fatalities.”
