The death toll from Hurricane Milton has risen to at least 16, according to count, following a reported fatality in Orange County, Florida.
A man in his 60s was declared dead on Thursday after apparently stepping on a fallen power line while clearing debris from the hurricane, as reported by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies discovered the man, whose identity has not been released, unresponsive at his home in the 6600 block of Pine Island Place, located north of downtown Orlando, shortly before 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.
The investigation into his death is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office has not provided further details.
