Ministry Secretary M.P.N.M.Wickramasinghe says that the price of eggs is completely determined on the basis of chicken feed and that a system will be prepared to buy maize for chicken feed at 125-130 rupees per kilo during the import season.
The wholesale price of eggs in the market has increased and while commenting on this, the secretary said that the increase in the price of chicken feed has affected this.
He further stated that some institutions do not have enough financial strength to import maize and attention directly has been focused on giving more quota to the institutions that import maize on a large scale and giving it to small-scale egg production institutions.
