Ranjan leaves SJB to contest the election with a new party, awaiting full pardon from the President.

Published:

Former Member of Parliament Ranjan Ramanayake has decided to leave the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

He mentioned that if he receives a full presidential pardon, he is ready to contest the upcoming general election under a new party.

Ramanayake, who was imprisoned on charges of contempt of court, was released under a limited presidential pardon granted by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

As a result, he currently does not have the right to contest in a general election.

He has requested approval from the new President, Anura Dissanayake, and stated that if he receives that approval, he is prepared to run in the election.
