Southern Beirut was heavily struck by Israeli attacks as the anniversary of October 7.

The Israeli military has strengthened its presence near the Gaza Strip in preparation for upcoming ceremonial events marking one year since the Hamas-led attacks into southern Israel on October 7. Additional troops have been deployed in border communities for defensive and offensive scenarios, as stated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The soldiers are fully equipped to coordinate with local security forces, the Israel Police, and Magen David Adom to ensure a comprehensive response to any incidents that may arise.

Israeli residents from Kibbutz Be’eri, one of the border communities raided by Hamas, have expressed the lasting impact of the attacks from last year, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 250 abductions, according to Israeli authorities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned that Israel is currently engaged in defensive actions on seven fronts, including against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. As the conflicts continue, concerns have been raised by analysts and human rights workers about the increasing human toll in the region.

The campaign in Gaza has resulted in at least 41,870 Palestinian deaths and 97,166 injuries, according to the ministry of health there, without distinguishing between combatant and civilian casualties. In Lebanon, over 1,400 people have been killed and nearly 7,500 injured by Israeli strikes, as reported by the Lebanese health ministry.
